Feature Request: Group Folders to Display on Specific Monitors

Post by NeoAlucard »

I wanted to suggest a feature for gPhotoShow's Photo Screen Saver.
I have the screen saver playing on 2 different large monitors, and I was wanting to display certain folders on 1 monitor and other folders on the 2nd monitor.
Due to sorting reasons, I want to keep these folders separate on the computer, but wish to display them on specific monitors.

For Example, let's say I have 5 separate folders called A, B, C, D, and E.
I'd like to display A, B, and C on Monitor 1, while folders B, D, and E on the 2nd Monitor.
In this case, Folder B is displayed on both monitors, while the other folders only appear on the monitors they are assigned to.

Would this be possible to add as a feature in gPhotoShow's Photo Screen Saver?

Hello,
what you suggest is already available, just use the Filters page to configure what to you wish to display on each monitor. From your example:
Choose monitor 1, tick "Include" then "Full file name contains" and enter: *\\A\\*;*\\B\\*;*\\C\\*
Choose monitor 2, tick "Include" then "Full file name contains" and enter: *\\B\\*;*\\D\\*;*\\E\\*

If the number of photos for each monitor is about the same you can leave the option "When one monitor finishes list restart slideshow", otherwise un-tick this option because when ticked the slideshow will be reset quite often and some pictures never displayed.

It took a little bit of learning, but I was able to figure it out.

Thank you for helping me with that!

I seem to be having problems with the Filters, since it seems like some word don't work. I have a folder called "Roll" and when I try to use *\\roll\\* as the "Include" in "Full file name contains" The resulting slideshow tells me that there is "No file to display, settings in Filters page excluded all files".

have not using Exclude at all, and if I turn the Include off, then it will show pictures from that folder (as well as other folders).

Hello,
hard to guess what is wrong without a screen shot of the Filter page and the directory tree, make sure the folder name is correct and there are no additional characters in the gPhotoShow text box.
If the folder where your pictures are stored is c:\my pics\roll\pics (or c:\my pics\roll\) then *\\roll\\* must work but if you have c:\my pics\rollover\pics *\\roll\\* will not find anything
