When do you get that error ? During the slideshow or while opening the configuration window ?
Do you get the error every time or only sometimes ?
Did you install some new program when you started to get this error ?

I get the error sometimes, not always, and only when the slide show opens. No new installs, the problem just started two weeks ago. I also did a system restore back to when the problem started, but that did not help.

Hard to say what causes that error. Does it happen often ? Is gPhotoShow configured to play video files ?
Anyway the first thing to try is to remove the tick from the option "Enable background files list synchronization" in the "File Options" tab.
This would help to understand whether gPhotoShow crashes in the code that performs the background file scan.

"Enable background files list synchronization" in the "File Options" tab is unchecked. It happens 40% of the time gphoto starts. Yes it is configured to play video files.

It is possible the crash is caused by video files. In particular if you have mov files played by the default player (quicktime) it is a known issue.
The first thing I would suggest is to disable video files for a while, just to see whether the crash is caused by video files. Then if they are the cause you could try installing VLC player and configure gPhotoShow to play video file with VLC.

Thanks. I already use VLC to play the video files. I did a sfc /scannow on the pc from the administrative command prompt but no problems were found. I am not sure that the sfc / scannow will do anything even though no problems were found. I can wait andf see and then reply.

I would try to disable video files for a while, the crash can be caused by a corrupted video or by a video that for some reason is not liked by VLC.

Tried disabling video. Seems to not to make a difference. I enabled video again. Seems like the error message when starting the slideshow has decrease to around 10% of the time it starts.

Enable error logging in the About page of the configuration window. Then let gPhotoShow to run, next time you see the error get the error log and send it to me as pm attachment o by email. It could help to find the cause of the crash.
