Feature request: avoid black bars

Hi,
Since implementing "across nodal point" was done so quickly (thanks again), how about an option to avoid black (or background colored) bars at the edge of the images? You know, locally keeping the nodal points in positions where zooming in and out or panning never shows the image beyond its edges. Or can that be realized safely by manually setting the nodal points way inside the image and keeping max and min zoom values within certain limits? If it's the latter, it seems I just can't get it right ...
Cheers,
Mac
